Nydia Velázquez, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 7th district since 1993, has recently shared her perspectives on various political issues through a series of tweets. Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Velázquez has been an influential voice in Congress for over three decades.

On March 6, 2025, Velázquez criticized the Republican party's financial strategy. She stated that "To finance their massive tax cuts, Republicans will put Medicaid and other critical programs on the chopping block. The numbers don't lie."

Later that day, she addressed the censure of fellow representative Al Green by expressing her disapproval of the action. In her tweet posted at 19:19 UTC, she declared that "Republicans want to silence @RepAlGreen for speaking the truth. I proudly voted NO on his censure."

The following day, on March 7, Velázquez invited her constituents to participate in a virtual event aimed at educating them about immigration rights. Her message emphasized empowerment through knowledge: "Join us TOMORROW at 3 PM for a virtual Know Your Rights training on immigration rights, protections & resources. Bangla translation available! Empower yourself & your community—knowledge is power!"
