Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center (MECCC) has opened a new breast care center at the Hutchinson Metro Center in the Bronx. The facility offers a comprehensive range of services, including advanced imaging, minimally invasive surgery, and genetic counseling. The aim is to provide personalized care and reduce late-stage cancer incidences in New York.

Dr. Sheldon M. Feldman emphasized the center's focus on personalized care: “Every square foot of the new space, every procedure being performed, and every clinician there has a single purpose: advancing our ability to deliver the most personalized care to our patients.”

The new approach at MECCC allows for immediate consultations between surgeons and radiologists when abnormalities are detected, streamlining diagnosis and treatment processes.

Advanced technology from GE HealthCare, such as 3D tomosynthesis mammography with contrast-enhanced capabilities, supports this initiative. Dr. Laura J. Hodges highlighted how these technologies can help women feel more in control during exams.

The opening marks another step in MECCC’s commitment to clinical excellence, following recent achievements like launching trials for scalp cooling to prevent hair loss during chemotherapy and innovations in breast conservation techniques.

Susan Green-Lorenzen commented on MECCC's dedication: “This beautiful new center exemplifies the commitment of our breast team in advancing patient care.”
