St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam, N.Y., announced the appointment of Cyril Erica as the new administrative director of laboratory services. Erica brings over 16 years of experience in the lab sector, with more than ten years in supervisory and managerial positions. Previously, he served as the regional laboratory manager at Bassett Healthcare Network in Cooperstown. There, he managed three laboratories and over 80 point-of-care facilities.

In his new role at St. Mary's, Erica will oversee laboratory operations at the hospital and five satellite lab sites, including the Rao Outpatient Pavilion, Holland Circle Medical Plaza, and family health centers in Canajoharie, Gloversville, and Johnstown. St. Mary’s president and CEO, Jeff Methven, stated, “Cyril’s clinical and managerial skills, and his appreciation of the unique role of a community hospital, make him an excellent fit for St. Mary’s. He also shares St. Mary’s commitment to quality and our culture of compassion—for patients, other providers and each other.”

Erica is a New York state-licensed clinical laboratory technologist and holds board certification as a medical laboratory scientist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in medical technology from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines.

St. Mary's Healthcare has been serving Montgomery and Fulton counties since 1903, offering a range of services at St. Mary’s Hospital, the Rao Outpatient Pavilion, and other locations.
