Rep. Nydia Velázquez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 7th district, shared her thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, and residing in Brooklyn, Velázquez has been a congressional representative since 1993.

On January 24, 2025, Velázquez expressed concerns about the potential closure of FEMA. She emphasized that "FEMA isn’t a luxury, it’s a lifeline," warning that leaving states and territories to manage natural disasters independently could lead to catastrophic outcomes.

In another tweet on January 25, 2025, Velázquez celebrated infrastructure improvements at Woodhaven Blvd Station. She noted the significance of new elevators installed as part of a $140 million upgrade project. She described it as an "exciting day for Woodhaven" and highlighted how these enhancements would benefit seniors, parents with strollers, and individuals with disabilities.

On January 27, 2025, Velázquez marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day by honoring the memory of six million Jewish victims and others who perished during the Holocaust. In her tweet she stated: "we mourn the six million Jewish people and countless others who were murdered in the Holocaust." She called for renewed efforts against antisemitism and all forms of hatred.
