Rep. Nydia Velázquez, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing New York's 7th district since 1993, has recently shared her perspectives on various political issues through a series of tweets. These tweets reflect her stance on constitutional rights, environmental accountability, and recent presidential pardons.

On January 21, 2025, Rep. Velázquez expressed her views on birthright citizenship via Twitter. She stated, "Birthright citizenship is a cornerstone of our Constitution, protected by the 14th Amendment for over 150 years. No president can erase that with an executive order. This is unconstitutional, un-American, and I will stand against it".

Later that day, she addressed environmental concerns in another tweet posted at 20:10 UTC. Rep. Velázquez announced the reintroduction of legislation aimed at holding billionaires accountable for pollution caused by private jets. She tweeted, "Last week, I reintroduced the House version of the FATCAT Act with @SenMarkey to hold billionaires accountable for their private jet pollution. If the ultra-wealthy can fly private, they can pay their fair share to fund clean transit & environmental justice."

On January 22, 2025, Rep. Velázquez commented on former President Trump's decision to pardon individuals involved in the January 6th events. She criticized this action in her tweet stating, "Trump pardoned 1,500+ January 6th felons, including many convicted of assaulting police officers. This isn’t 'law and order,' it’s rewarding political violence and endangering our democracy."
