The Metropolitan Museum of Art is maintaining its holiday tradition by showcasing a Christmas tree adorned with a Neapolitan Baroque crèche. The display features a twenty-foot blue spruce, beautifully illuminated and positioned in front of an eighteenth-century Spanish choir screen from the Cathedral of Valladolid. This installation can be found in the Museum's Medieval Sculpture Hall.

The Nativity scene is set against the backdrop of a Mediterranean harbor town, featuring a diverse array of lifelike figures. Silk-robed angels hover above the scene, enhancing its vivid depiction of the multicultural population typical of that era.

It is important to note that there will be no tree-lighting ceremonies this year.

The exhibit has been made possible through support from the Loretta Hines Howard Fund.
