The Lupus Research Alliance has announced the recipients of the Lupus Innovation Award for this year. Among those recognized are Franck Barrat, PhD, the Michael R. Bloomberg Chair in Autoimmune Diseases at HSS, and Theresa T. Lu, MD, PhD, the St. Giles Chair for Research in the HSS Research Institute, and a pediatric rheumatologist at HSS.
The award focuses on vital areas in lupus research, such as novel therapeutic strategies, understanding chronic inflammation, and identifying biomarkers for enhanced diagnosis and monitoring. The grants offer researchers up to $150,000 annually for two years, promoting high-risk, high-reward projects that could reshape the understanding and treatment of lupus. These initiatives underscore the diversity and creativity required to address the complexities of lupus.
