St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, New York, has secured $1 million in capital funding from the office of New York State Senator James Sanders, Jr. The funds are allocated for the ongoing development of the hospital's new Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) unit.

Donald T. Morrish, MD, MMM, Chief Executive Officer of Episcopal Health Services (EHS), expressed gratitude for the support received. "We are incredibly grateful to Sen. Sanders for his continued advocacy on behalf of Episcopal Health Services and his commitment to the construction of the St. John’s Episcopal Hospital’s Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit," he stated. He added that EHS is committed to providing high-quality care accessible to all women in their community.

Senator Sanders also commented on the importance of healthcare services: "Quality healthcare is essential for a thriving community. I am proud to support St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in enhancing maternal care, ensuring families in the Rockaways receive the best possible start."

The construction of this LDRP unit began in May 2024 and aims to offer enhanced comfort and specialized services for mothers and newborns needing additional support once completed by late 2025.

Episcopal Health Services Inc., located on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, New York, serves a diverse population with emergency and ambulatory care services while focusing on preventive and rehabilitative care regardless of patients' financial situations.
