Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has announced that its new cancer care pavilion, currently under construction, will be named The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This facility is designed to address future cancer care needs with advanced technology, robotics, and a digital infrastructure.
The pavilion is named in honor of Kenneth C. Griffin, the Founder and CEO of Citadel and Founder of Griffin Catalyst, who made a significant donation to support clinical innovation at MSK in 2023. Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS, MSK’s President and CEO said, “Ken’s generosity is unparalleled in its impact on our organization and our ability to advance MSK’s mission of ending cancer for life.” He added that Griffin's contribution improves lives globally by supporting MSK's leading-edge cancer care.
Kenneth C. Griffin expressed his admiration for MSK: “The extraordinary team at MSK is saving lives every single day... I am honored to support their life-changing work.”
The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion will be located on York Avenue between East 66th and East 67th Streets and will focus exclusively on patient care. It will feature a LEED-certified design within MSK’s existing footprint to enhance access to cancer care locally and internationally. A two-story bridge will connect the pavilion with Memorial Hospital for convenient access.
This expansion aligns with The MSK Campaign: Leading Science. Changing Lives., which supports strategic initiatives as part of MSK’s 2030 plan to raise $6 billion by that year for future cancer treatment innovations.
