Cycle for Survival, a fundraising initiative of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), has reached a significant milestone by raising $400 million since its inception in 2007. The funds have been used to support the work of doctors and scientists at MSK, which is recognized as a leader in rare cancer research and care.

The achievement is attributed to the dedication of Cycle for Survival’s founding partner, Equinox, along with over 1.2 million donors and participants. This community includes patients, caregivers, survivors, MSK clinicians, researchers, and staff who participate annually in stationary bike rides at Equinox clubs across the country.

Jeff and Nataly Cavagnaro are among those participating this year. Their involvement comes after their son Cameron was successfully treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia by Dr. Neerav Shukla and his team at MSK. “Cameron is still with us today because of events like Cycle for Survival and because of Dr. Shukla and his research,” said Jeff Cavagnaro.

Rare cancers such as blood, brain, ovarian, pancreatic, and pediatric cancers often receive less funding than more common types. Cycle for Survival addresses this gap by supporting research that enhances understanding and treatment of these diseases. Contributions from the initiative have supported FDA-approved treatments and diagnostic innovations like MSK-IMPACT.

“We are at a moment of unprecedented hope and opportunity in the fight against rare cancers," stated Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS, President and CEO of MSK.

Founded by Jennifer Goodman Linn and her husband Dave Linn in 2007 with an initial fundraiser involving 230 people on 50 bikes raising $250,000, Cycle for Survival has grown significantly with Equinox's partnership playing a crucial role.

“Every participant, donor, and survivor has made an extraordinary impact on Cycle for Survival,” said Scott Rosen from Equinox.

The 2025 season includes cycling events across over 20 locations nationwide along with new experiences in Chicago and New York City supported by partners like ICAP, Vuori as the Official Performance Apparel Sponsor, and Essentia Water as the Official Hydration Sponsor.
