Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) has announced the appointment of Mark Bowen, MD, as the inaugural Medical Advisor for Strategy & Business Development. This new role will commence on March 1.
Dr. Bowen will collaborate with HSS President & CEO Bryan T. Kelly, MD, MBA, Chief Strategy, Growth and Transformation Officer Justin Oppenheimer, and the HSS Sports Medicine Institute. His responsibilities include developing innovative programs and clinical platforms and advancing strategic opportunities to enhance patient care and expand partnerships.
Dr. Bowen's background includes graduating with honors from Cornell University Medical College and completing his orthopedic surgery residency and a Sports Medicine fellowship at HSS. He previously served as Chief of Sports Medicine at Endeavor Health in Chicago since 2012. His experience also includes serving as Head Team Physician for the Chicago Bears for over three decades, as well as roles with the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs. Dr. Bowen held faculty positions at Northwestern University Medical School and University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and founded The Northwestern Orthopedic Institute.
Renowned for his expertise in treating ACL, rotator cuff, and meniscus injuries, Dr. Bowen has contributed significantly to orthopedic literature with over 60 publications.
