Becker's Hospital Review has recognized Dr. Legler, Chief Nursing Officer at Maimonides Health, among its annual "CNOs to Know" list for 2024. The list highlights 213 CNOs across the United States for their clinical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to patient care. Selection is based on peer nominations and editorial research.

Dr. Legler joined Maimonides Health earlier this year, bringing over 15 years of experience in nursing and health services administration. He oversees nursing services within the system, focusing on strategic development, clinical standards, safety, and quality.

Before his current role at Maimonides Health, Dr. Legler served as System Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Perioperative Services at MedStar Health in Washington D.C., where he launched a surgical tech apprentice program and led initiatives to earn significant designations such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center Pathway to Excellence and Baby-Friendly Hospital designation. Prior to MedStar Health, he was Chief Clinical Officer at LivHOME.

Dr. Legler has also contributed significantly outside of these roles. As Past-President of the Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders, he established a meaningful recognition program with the Daisy Foundation and a diversity scholarship program for nursing students.

In addition to his administrative roles, Dr. Legler is passionate about education in nursing. Since 2019, he has been an adjunct faculty member at Marymount University teaching courses related to nursing leadership and health policy while continuing clinical practice by volunteering as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
