Maimonides Medical Center has partnered with the National Arts Program (NAP) to present a visual art showcase featuring contributions from hospital employees and their families. This initiative is part of Maimonides' Healing Arts Program, which aims to foster creativity and community within the hospital environment.

"We are thrilled to be sponsored by the National Arts Program for our first annual employee and family art showcase," stated Deborah Douek, Manager of Team Lavender Peer Support/Healing Arts at Maimonides Medical Center. "This exhibit will provide employees and family members an opportunity to share their creative side and foster a sense of community, engagement, and mastery."

The NAP has been providing opportunities for hospital employees and their families to express their creativity for over three decades. The nonprofit organization collaborates annually with more than 90 venues across over 30 states to host workplace exhibitions that acknowledge and appreciate artistic expressions.

Research indicates that engaging in creative arts therapy can help alleviate burnout among healthcare professionals while promoting healing and resilience through community building. In light of findings showing that 46% of health workers reported feeling burned out often or very often in 2022—up from 32% in 2018—this initiative is timely. Maimonides is dedicated to leveraging the benefits of art to support its workforce, enabling them to better serve patients and the Brooklyn community.
