The annual Celebration of Light, hosted by Maimonides Health, is an event dedicated to supporting local churches in their fundraising and tree lighting ceremonies. This initiative assists churches during the Christmas season as they hold tree lighting events where parishioners dedicate trees to honor lost loved ones. Maimonides provides the necessary support for these churches to purchase the trees.

The Celebration of Light was established in 1995 with an initial donation to Visitation Monastery to help decorate for Christmas. Over the years, more parishes have joined, with 46 churches currently participating. This year, Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral are among the new additions.

Ken Gibbs, CEO and President of Maimonides Health, emphasized the importance of these partnerships: “Our longtime partnerships with our neighboring faith organizations are essential to our ability to not just treat our patients’ conditions, but to care for them as people, and we are proud to support the work these organizations do to care for our communities throughout the year.” He also expressed gratitude for the event's growth: “We are grateful that this event is growing each year, with new faith organizations joining us in driving forward our mission to provide healing for our community.”
