Artist Youngeun Sohn is set to present two performances, "Crumples" on October 15 and "Talk in the Dark" on October 16, during her visit to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. These performances are part of her artist residency from October 14 to 18.

"Crumples" will explore human movement through the use of a 100-yard roll of paper composed of pulp, seaweed, and starched fabric. In "Talk in the Dark," Sohn will deliver a performative lecture with a flashlight, discussing image making, transparency, and invisible labor while focusing on sensory perception gaps.

Ernest A. Bryant III, clinical assistant professor at NYU Gallatin, commented on Sohn's work: “Youngeun Sohn’s engagement with the seemingly mundane aspects of the world through intervention and performance call for us to rethink and reexamine our relationship to the world as well as to our bodies.”

The events are open to the public without charge and are supported by Criticism + Value, NYU Gallatin, Silver Art Projects, and Arts Council of Korea. Attendance for "Crumples" is limited to 30 people who must RSVP by October 14 at 4:00 p.m.

Sohn has an extensive background in visual arts across South Korea and the Netherlands. She holds degrees from Korea University and Yale School of Art. Her work has been showcased in numerous venues worldwide.
