Michael Ducatte, a student in the fully asynchronous online Master of Social Work (MSW) program, has successfully extended the reach of his academic work. As part of Professor Katherine Kelly’s Advanced Policy Advocacy course, Ducatte wrote a Letter to the Editor that was published on March 3, 2025, in the Times Union newspaper based in Albany, New York.

In his letter, Ducatte advocates for increased support for children living in poverty. He emphasizes how policies significantly impact children's daily lives and suggests solutions such as housing assistance, affordable childcare, and tax credits. His efforts aim to draw public attention to issues affecting social workers' clients, demonstrating social work policy practice and advocacy.

The letter is accessible through the Times Union's platform.
