    Daniel Ganopolsky, a Straus Scholar majoring in political science at Yeshiva University (YC ’24), recently completed an internship at the New York City Family Court. Supported by a grant from the Straus Center’s Impact Office, Ganopolsky interned during the spring of 2024 and worked under Judge Pamela Sheininger.

  • Adina Feldman's internships bridge Torah values with modern professional pursuits

    Adina Feldman (SCW '26), a Straus Scholar majoring in Psychology, has been actively engaged in various extracurricular and professional activities throughout the 2023-2024 school year. This summer, she will intern in Jerusalem with therapist Micki Lavin Pell at Kav L’Noar, a mental health clinic supporting Israelis affected by the events of October 7th. Feldman reflects on her internship experiences during the fall and spring semesters.

  • Weill Cornell partners with Katz School to advance biotech student research

    Big pharmaceutical companies may have their names on patients’ prescriptions, but they have become increasingly reliant on academic medical centers and small companies to create the drugs they sell. Collaborations like the one between Weill Cornell Medicine and the Katz School’s M.S. in Biotechnology Management and Entrepreneurship have emerged as catalysts for developing the next generation of drugs, devices, and services.

  • Health sciences graduates receive white coats at Katz School ceremony

    On May 16, the Katz School held a Health Sciences Celebration where 67 graduates from the M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy Doctorate programs received white coats to mark their transition to professional clinical practice. This event followed the school's main commencement exercises.

  • Political science student advocates for Orthodox Jewish community

    Tziporah Pinczower, a Straus Scholar majoring in political science at Stern College for Women (SCW '26), has been actively defending religious liberty through her academic and professional endeavors. In the spring of 2024, she interned at Agudath Israel of America, supported by a grant from the Straus Center’s Impact Office. During her first year on campus, Pinczower published three articles in the Wall Street Journal, advocating for Israel, America, and the Jewish people following the events of October 7th.

    Yeshiva University is set to celebrate its 93rd annual commencement ceremony on May 29, honoring more than 1,700 graduates. The institution will bestow its highest accolade for global leadership, the Presidential Medallion, upon U.S. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania.

    Over 350 guests attended the 37th annual Sy Syms Awards Dinner last month at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park. Attendees included students, faculty, staff, alumni, board members, and families from the entire Sy Syms community.

  • Yeshiva University alumni awarded prestigious fellowship

    Matan and Kayla Zucker, graduates of Yeshiva University, have been awarded the third Shlomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation Married Couples Fellowship. Set to begin their studies in June, Matan will study at Shapell’s and Kayla will study at Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya.

  • Katz School confers 278 degrees at eighth commencement ceremony

    The Katz School of Science and Health conferred 260 master’s and 18 doctoral degrees at its eighth commencement ceremony on May 16. The event also recognized the first M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies graduates.

  • Yeshiva University hosts discussion on antisemitism, media and Jews

    On May 7th, the Zahava and Moshael Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought of Yeshiva University hosted its annual Rabbi Allan Mirvis Lecture at the Fifth Avenue Synagogue in Manhattan. The event, titled “Antisemitism, the Media, and the Jews,” drew dialogue among notable voices in Jewish media: John Podhoretz, editor of Commentary Magazine; Alana Newhouse, editor-in-chief of Tablet Magazine; and Elliot Kaufman, letters editor at the Wall Street Journal. The discussion was moderated by Straus Director Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik.

  • YU students join hostage's mother at Nova Festival exhibit

    On May 7, marking seven months since the Hamas attack on Israel, 94 students from Yeshiva University's (YU) Beren Campus attended the Nova Festival exhibit in Lower Manhattan. Among them was Einav Danino, mother of Ori Danino, a 25-year-old hostage still held by Hamas. The group was also accompanied by Rabbi Shay Schachter, Associate Dean Shoshana Schechter and Rabbi Azriel Fine.

    Uriel Sussman, a second-year student at Yeshiva College, has been named the 2024 winner of the YU Student Library Research Award. Although Sussman has not yet declared his major, he is reportedly leaning towards philosophy.

    Professor Joshua Zimmerman, YU’s Eli and Diana Zborowski Chair in Holocaust Studies and East European Jewish History, recently had his book, Józef Pilsudski: Founding Father of Modern Poland, translated into standard Mandarin Chinese.
