The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in collaboration with the Hellenic Republic's Ministry of Culture and the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens, is showcasing the Leonard N. Stern Collection of Cycladic Art. This exhibition marks the initiation of a historic 50-year partnership following approval by the Greek parliament in 2022. The collection consists of 161 pieces, compiled by businessman and philanthropist Leonard Stern over four decades, now on long-term loan from the Greek government.

This collection is the most comprehensive private assembly of Cycladic art outside Greece. It features almost all major types of marble figures and vessels from the Early Bronze Age. Visitors have the opportunity to explore Cycladic sculptors' work, which exhibits essential aspects and subtle variations achieved over more than a millennium.

The initiative serves as a new approach to repatriate Cycladic works to Greece while simultaneously allowing them to reach a global audience. It supports international cooperation in studying and appreciating Early Cycladic art and culture.

The exhibition is complemented by an illustrated catalogue. "Cycladic Art: The Leonard N. Stern Collection on Loan from the Hellenic Republic" highlights significant ancient Cycladic pieces from the collection.
