Andrew Nasser, a graduate of St. John's University's School of Education, shared insights into how his degree has influenced his career and life in a recent Q&A session. Nasser emphasized the importance of the education he received, stating, "A degree from The School of Education was the catalyst I needed to jump-start my career." He praised the professors and courses at St. John's for their role in preparing him for his field.

Networking opportunities through the Human Services and Counseling Department were also highlighted by Nasser as crucial to his career development. He noted that these connections helped him find internships and job leads. According to Nasser, "Our alumni network isn’t just active, it’s strong."

Nasser attributed much of his personal and professional growth to specific faculty members at St. John's University. His adviser, James S. Bethea, Ph.D., was mentioned as a significant influence who took an interest in Nasser's career as a school counselor. Other professors such as Heather C. Robertson, Ph.D., and Gina Cicco, Ed.D., continue to support him.

Andrew Ferdinandi ’73Ed, ’76G, ’91Ed.D., was particularly impactful on Nasser's journey. Reflecting on Ferdinandi's mentorship, Nasser said, "He saw in me things I did not yet see in myself." Their collaboration extended beyond the classroom into work at the Child Advocacy Clinic.

Nasser cherishes every memory from his time as a student at The School of Education. He recounted his experiences with campus life and valued the connections made with professors who were invested in his success.

Offering advice to future alumni, Nasser recommended maintaining relationships with former professors and peers while giving back to St. John’s University by supporting current students and becoming a resource for others.
