Hakeem Jeffries, a U.S. Congressman representing New York's 8th district, has expressed his opposition to recent Republican initiatives through a series of tweets. Jeffries has been serving in Congress since 2013 and previously served in the New York State Assembly.

On March 11, 2025, Jeffries spoke against a Republican spending bill on the House floor. He stated his disapproval by saying "We will not be complicit in their effort to hurt the American people."

The following day, March 12, 2025, he criticized Donald Trump and House Republicans for their handling of economic issues. He tweeted that "Donald Trump and House Republicans have done nothing to lower the high cost of living." Furthermore, he accused them of promoting unaffordable luxury vehicles and described it as a scam.

On March 13, 2025, Jeffries addressed the control Republicans hold over both legislative houses and the presidency. He accused them of drafting a spending bill that harms vulnerable groups like veterans and seniors. Additionally, he noted that "extreme MAGA Republicans want to shut down the government," calling it shameful.
