Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso has announced a $132,000 allocation in fiscal year 2025 discretionary funding for the support of community programming at all 83 NYCHA Tenant Associations (TAs) across Brooklyn. This funding is intended to aid general programming, including family days and backpack giveaways for NYCHA residents. Each active tenant association was awarded up to $3,000 based on their development's population.

Reynoso emphasized the significance of tenant associations in building community within NYCHA developments. "NYCHA Tenant Associations are the lifeline of community at NYCHA developments," he stated. "I am proud to provide support to Brooklyn’s NYCHA residents with this funding which gives a boost to TAs developing crucial programming."

The announcement was made during an appreciation breakfast for TA presidents at Brooklyn Borough Hall. Reynoso's past support includes a $108,000 allocation in fiscal year 2024 to 69 TAs, with this year's funding seeing an increase by $24,000 to include 14 more associations.

Council Member Chris Banks praised the initiative, noting its importance in building capacity for tenant associations: “This support from the office of the Brooklyn Borough President will further assist the NYCHA Tenant Associations across the borough.”

Lisa Bova-Hiatt, NYCHA Chief Executive Officer, expressed gratitude for Reynoso's contribution: “We are so appreciative of Brooklyn Borough President Reynoso’s generous funding allocation.”

Tyree Stanback from NYCHA Brooklyn West Regional TA also extended thanks: “Your support and generosity have been truly inspirational... You and your office have exemplified true leadership.”
