Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso has expressed concerns over the ongoing negotiations for the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity. In a statement, he criticized past zoning decisions and their impact on housing development.

Reynoso pointed out that "Mayor Bloomberg contextually zoned already low-density neighborhoods, making it even harder to build new housing." He further stated that by exempting these neighborhoods from the current proposal, "Mayor Adams and the City Council are choosing to make the same mistakes."

He warned of significant consequences due to exemptions of certain districts from the City of Yes initiative. Reynoso emphasized that while City of Yes was not a comprehensive solution to the city's housing crisis, it represented a step towards addressing discriminatory zoning practices.

Reynoso urged city leaders to reconsider these exemptions, cautioning them against perpetuating past administrative harms.
