Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso has announced the artist lineup for this year's Wingate Park Concert, set to take place on Tuesday, August 8. The event will feature performances by Brooklyn's Grammy-winning reggae band Morgan Heritage, R&B singer Leela James, Ralph McDaniels' Video Music Box celebrating hip hop's 50th anniversary, and Harlem saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin & Soul Squad. The concert will also include a special performance by the Brooklyn United Marching Band.

"Last year, over 5,000 people joined us to safely enjoy this summer staple," said Reynoso. "This year, with this lineup, we’re gearing up to top it."

The concert is free and unticketed, with doors opening at 5pm and the show starting at 6pm. Entrances are limited to Brooklyn Avenue and Winthrop Street, with ADA access available from 4:45pm.

Morgan Heritage expressed excitement about performing in their home borough. "We are so excited to share our new music and classics with our people at home in Brooklyn," they said.

Leela James highlighted the power of music in her statement. "Music is powerful – it can capture joy, grief, love," she noted.

Ralph McDaniels emphasized hip hop's cultural significance. "Hip Hop is more than a genre – it’s a way of preserving stories," he stated.

Lakecia Benjamin looks forward to blending musical genres on stage. "Just like my music unites genre, so too will the Wingate stage this summer," she remarked.

The event is supported by sponsors including Uber, National Grid, iHeart Radio, and Con Edison. Renee McClure from National Grid commented on their long-term partnership with the concert series: "We share in the commitment to provide sustainable programs for the people and communities we serve."

Bernie Weiss of iHeartMedia New York expressed pride in being associated with the event: "We are proud to be associated with this year’s Wingate Park Concert."

Johari Jenkins-Taylor from Con Edison also voiced support: "We appreciate the opportunity to share Our Clean Energy Commitment."
