Golf Central has reported on a study conducted at HSS Florida in West Palm Beach. The study employs a high-tech golf simulator to assess golfers with arthritis before and after joint replacement surgery.
The research aims to recruit patients suffering from knee, hip, or shoulder arthritis to analyze how the condition impacts their club swing and other elements of their game. Post-surgery and rehabilitation assessments will be conducted to evaluate the effects of joint replacement on their golfing capabilities.
“High-end golf simulators have optically enhanced radar tracking technology that provides a considerable amount of data in terms of golf swing, ball launch and ball flight,” said Ryan W. Simovitch, MD, director of the shoulder division and co-medical director at HSS Florida, who is also the principal investigator for this study.
