Hakeem Jeffries, a current U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 8th district, has been vocal on social media regarding economic issues and the actions of House Republicans. His recent tweets address concerns about inflation, healthcare, and rising grocery costs.

On February 19, 2025, Jeffries questioned the Republican commitment to reducing living costs in America. He stated: "What happened to the Republican promise to lower the high cost of living in America? Inflation is not going down. It’s going up."

The following day, February 20, 2025, Jeffries criticized the proposed budget by House Republicans. He expressed concern that it would adversely affect rural hospitals and nursing homes while impacting Medicaid. He wrote: "The House Republican budget will close rural hospitals, shut down Nursing Homes across the country and gut Medicaid. Meanwhile. House Democrats are working hard to help every single American, in every community, in every corner of the country."

On February 21, 2025, Jeffries commented on grocery prices in relation to promises made by Donald Trump and House Republicans. He tweeted: "Donald Trump and House Republicans told us grocery costs would go down on day one. Why are they going up? Chaos doesn’t solve problems. It makes things worse."
