Associate professor of physics Jeremy Tinker has expressed his admiration for the Star Trek franchise, yet he finds certain aspects of the 1994 film "Star Trek Generations" problematic from a scientific perspective. Tinker points out issues in the climactic sequence where a rocket launched by an antagonist in conflict with Captain Picard travels at speeds exceeding that of light.

Moreover, Tinker highlights another significant issue regarding the depiction of energy production within a star. He explains what would actually occur if energy production at the core of a star were to suddenly cease, noting discrepancies between this scenario and its portrayal in the film.
