Yeshiva University High School for Girls, also known as Central, has announced the appointment of Mrs. Aliza Gewirtz as its next principal. Her selection followed a comprehensive process involving parents, faculty, and key stakeholders. The Board of Trustees unanimously approved her appointment, with her tenure beginning on July 1, 2025.
Mrs. Gewirtz is an alumna of YUHSG and Yeshiva University. She brings significant experience and dedication to her new role. Known for her dynamic approach to education and commitment to student growth, she aligns with the mission and values of YUHSG. Her insights into student development and academic excellence have impressed the school community.
Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Judaic Studies from Stern College for Women and a master's degree in Jewish Education from the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration. She also holds a Master of Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and is a licensed social worker.
In her previous role as Dean of Students at YUHSG, Mrs. Gewirtz contributed significantly to creating a supportive environment for students. During the 2024–2025 school year, she worked alongside Associate Principal Ms. Leah Moskovich during a transitional period for the school. Ms. Moskovich will continue in her role, collaborating with Mrs. Gewirtz in leading the institution forward.
The school expressed gratitude to outgoing principal Ms. Bracha Rutner for her leadership and contributions to YUHSG over the years. Although Mrs. Gewirtz's official start date is several months away, she remains actively involved within the school community.
The YUHSG community anticipates this new chapter under Mrs. Gewirtz’s leadership.
