Maimonides Health leaders have been acknowledged by PoliticsNY in their 2024 Power Players in Health Care list. Mr. Gibbs, who has led Maimonides since 2016, was recognized for his role in the health system's expansion and development. Under his leadership, Maimonides has grown from a standalone hospital into a comprehensive health system based in Brooklyn, including the Maimonides Medical Center, Maimonides Children’s Hospital, and Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital.

Mr. Gibbs manages a staff of over 7,000 with an annual budget of $2 billion. The system's accomplishments during his tenure include opening new facilities such as the Maimonides Bay Ridge Emergency Department and the Maimonides Doctors Multispecialty Pavilion. This year will see the completion of new pediatric and psychiatric emergency departments as part of efforts to expand emergency care services in southern Brooklyn.

Nancy Hagans was also honored for her contributions to workforce advocacy within healthcare. With three decades at Maimonides as a nurse, she holds multiple leadership roles including president of NYSNA and National Nurses United (NNU). She has been pivotal in negotiating key contracts for nurses across the region.

“I am proud to be recognized as a nurse and an advocate in health care," said Nancy Hagans. "As nurses, we advocate for our patients each day at the bedside, and our voices are critical to making change at the institutional and policy levels."
