Hakeem Jeffries, a U.S. Congressman representing New York's 8th district since 2013, has been vocal on social media regarding recent political developments. Jeffries, who succeeded Edolphus Towns and has a background in law with degrees from Binghamton University and New York University, often addresses policies affecting everyday Americans.

On November 20, 2024, Jeffries criticized House Republicans' plans regarding Medicaid. He stated that the proposed cuts to Medicaid are intended to facilitate tax reductions for wealthy donors. According to him, such actions would negatively impact children, seniors, and veterans. Jeffries also noted that while the incoming administration had promised to assist ordinary citizens, "far right MAGA extremists" were pursuing opposite objectives. "House Republicans plan to slash Medicaid so they can cut taxes for their wealthy donors."

In a subsequent tweet on November 21, 2024, Jeffries addressed his Republican colleagues directly. He emphasized that they lack a mandate to implement extreme right-wing policies and stressed the need for bipartisan efforts to reduce living costs for Americans. "Moment of clarity for my House Republican colleagues."

Finally, on November 23, 2024, Jeffries commented on an appointment within the Office of Management and Budget. He noted that a key figure behind Project 2025 was appointed as its leader and expressed little surprise at this development. "A major author of Project 2025 was just named to lead the powerful Office of Management and Budget."
