On November 20, 2024, Jeffries criticized House Republicans' plans regarding Medicaid. He stated that the proposed cuts to Medicaid are intended to facilitate tax reductions for wealthy donors. According to him, such actions would negatively impact children, seniors, and veterans. Jeffries also noted that while the incoming administration had promised to assist ordinary citizens, "far right MAGA extremists" were pursuing opposite objectives. He noted that a key figure behind Project 2025 was appointed as its leader and expressed little surprise at this development.
