Johnnies from across the country gathered at St. John’s University for a week of reunion events culminating in the annual Alumni Gala. The gala, held at Leonard’s Palazzo in Great Neck, NY, featured dancing, music, and a special 50th-anniversary recognition of the Class of 1974.
Reflecting on the significance of the reunion events, Cesar Pozo ’09CPS, President of Sigma Phi Epsilon NY Rho Alumni Volunteer Corporation, emphasized the impact of his time at St. John’s University on his life. He expressed gratitude for the connections and friendships he made, stating, “I owe everything to St. John’s University.”
Paige F. Band ’16CPS, ’18MPS, President of Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD), shared her deep appreciation for the opportunities she had at St. John’s, highlighting the role of generous alumni in facilitating experiences for students. She underscored the importance of alumni in representing various industries and providing support to current students.
Jacqueline Lepore ’21C, ’22G, Assistant Director of Student Life at Staten Island Campus, reflected on her evolving journey at St. John’s, emphasizing the values and skills she acquired as a student leader and administrator. She highlighted the significance of Greek life on the campus community and the importance of alumni involvement in celebrating traditions.
Joan Mazza Dobis ’66NDC, President of the Notre Dame College Alumnae Association (NDCAA), spoke fondly of her time at the Staten Island campus and her interactions with alumni. She emphasized the growth and opportunities facilitated by active participation in the alumni association, acknowledging the bittersweet closure of the campus.
As the 50th anniversary of her graduation approached, Patricia M. Reilly ’74C, ’75G reflected on her successful career in government and consulting, attributing much of her achievements to St. John’s University. She expressed her commitment to giving back to the university and upholding its Vincentian mission of service.
