Christopher Cuccia ’97CBA, ’01MBA, ’07PD, ’09Ed.D., Associate Provost for Academic and Graduate Affairs at Seton Hall University, expressed his gratitude for being recognized at the 13th Annual Leaders in Education Awards Dinner (LEAD) by The School of Education (SOE) of St. John’s University. Cuccia described the honor as "an incredible honor" and a "personal and professional highlight."
Reflecting on his career, Cuccia shared, "My hope is that I’ve upheld the St. John’s University mission of service, integrity, and excellence in all that I do." He also expressed his appreciation for being acknowledged alongside other dedicated educators who are committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
In discussing his background, Cuccia highlighted his long-standing relationship with St. John’s University, where he served in various capacities over 17 years. Currently, he serves as the Associate Provost for Academic and Graduate Affairs at Seton Hall University, emphasizing the importance of his experiences at St. John’s in preparing him for his current role.
Regarding the impact of his education from The School of Education, Cuccia stated, "Not only have my degrees from The School of Education positively impacted my career, but the School and the University, broadly, have had a profound impact on who I am as a person and an educator." He credited the university's Vincentian charism and mission for instilling in him a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Cuccia also acknowledged the influential role of professors in his academic journey, particularly highlighting Dr. Rene S. Parmar and Dr. Jerrold Ross. He described Dr. Ross as a "monumental figure" whose commitment to teaching excellence left a lasting impression on him.
Reflecting on his student days, Cuccia cherished the sense of community that characterized his time at The School of Education. He valued the interactions with faculty and classmates, highlighting the camaraderie that made his educational experience transformative.
In offering advice to the next generation of alumni, Cuccia emphasized the importance of embracing change, pursuing lifelong learning, staying curious, and remembering the privilege of serving others as educators. He encouraged individuals to continue seeking knowledge, embracing new ideas, and upholding the mission of service in their roles.
The LEAD Awards Dinner on April 11 will celebrate Christopher Cuccia and other distinguished alumni for their contributions to the field of education.
