CUNY facilitates study abroad trip reconnecting Dreamers with roots in Mexico
Thirty Dreamers, including 25 students and alumni from six CUNY colleges, traveled to Mexico in April for an all-expenses-paid study abroad program facilitated by CUNY Citizenship Now! This initiative also has the potential to assist with their applications for legal residency. Nearly all participants were born in Mexico and many had emotional reunions with family members they had not seen since childhood.

CUNY Reconnect aids over 33,000 students in degree completion
CUNY Reconnect, a program funded by the city to re-engage New Yorkers who have earned college credits but did not complete their degrees, has enabled the City University of New York (CUNY) to re-enroll 16,319 students during the 2023-2024 academic year. This brings the total number of students who have returned to CUNY through Reconnect since its inception in 2022 to 33,378. More than 10% of these students – numbering 3,375 – have either completed their degrees or are on track to do so this spring.
