Hakeem Jeffries, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 8th district since 2013, has recently made several public statements addressing significant issues. Through his tweets, Jeffries expressed his concern and shared his perspectives on these matters.

On April 12, 2025, Jeffries criticized the book ban at the Naval Academy. He emphasized his disapproval by highlighting, "The outrageous Naval Academy book ban targets Maya Angelou and the Holocaust, but excludes Adolf Hitler. This must be reversed immediately."

On April 13, 2025, Jeffries shared a message reflecting on the occasion of Holy Week. He quoted a biblical verse from the book of Matthew, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” accompanied by symbols representing Palm Sunday.

Later the same day, Jeffries responded to an arson attack aimed at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family during Passover, directing readers to his statement on the incident.

Hakeem Jeffries was born in 1970 in Brooklyn, New York City, and has represented New York’s 8th District since 2013, following his tenure in the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012. His academic background includes a BA from Binghamton University (1992) and a JD from New York University (1997).
