NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn has named Noritsugu Naito, MD, as its first chief of cardiac surgery. This appointment is a part of the hospital’s expanded NYU Langone Heart services. Dr. Naito, renowned in the field of cardiothoracic surgery, is also set to serve as a clinical associate professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Dr. Naito aims to provide top-tier cardiac care for residents locally, leading a team of healthcare professionals in Brooklyn. Since the cardiac surgery services' expansion, the hospital has performed nearly a dozen open-heart surgeries and established a coronary care unit. Dr. Naito expressed his commitment to excellence and innovation: “I’m honored to lead an exceptional team of healthcare professionals, who are already delivering world-class cardiac surgery services to patients.”
Dr. Naito, who holds an MD and PhD from the University of Tokyo, completed fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital and NYU Langone. Before this role, he served as the director of cardiovascular surgery at Shizuoka Medical Center in Japan. Ralph S. His research includes areas in cardiothoracic surgery, focusing on mitral repair and outcomes in aortic valve replacement. Over nine years since a merger with NYU Langone Health, NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn has gained recognition for high-quality care and patient safety.
