Grace Meng, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York's 6th District, shared her concerns on social media regarding several pressing issues affecting her constituents and the nation. Meng has been serving in Congress since 2013 after succeeding Gary Ackerman. Her educational background includes a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Yeshiva University.
On March 19, 2025, Meng highlighted the potential impact of proposed budget cuts on Medicaid coverage during a visit to Queens Hospital with Representative Gregory Meeks. She stated, "On #Medicaid Day of Action, @RepGregoryMeeks & I visited Queens Hospital, which cares for hundreds of patients daily that rely on Medicaid coverage." Meng emphasized that nearly 280,000 children and adults in her district could lose their healthcare coverage under the proposed budget.
Later that day, Meng addressed environmental concerns related to severe weather events across the United States. She noted in her tweet: "In 2025, communities across the nation have already experienced wildfires, deadly tornados, & severe storms." She expressed opposition to closing NOAA's Storm Prediction Center due to its importance as tornado season approaches in the South and Midwest.
Meng also commented on housing challenges faced by her constituents in Queens amidst ongoing tariffs on allied nations. In another tweet posted on March 19th, she stated: "Our nation is experiencing a housing crisis & Queens is not immune." She argued that tariffs would complicate efforts to build or renovate homes.
