Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso organized a Thanksgiving food distribution event at Brooklyn Borough Hall last Friday. The initiative, in collaboration with UA3 and Hispanic Federation, aimed to support over 140 houses of worship, community kitchens, and organizations tackling food insecurity and homelessness. More than 50,000 pounds of fresh produce and other food items were distributed.

Antonio Reynoso emphasized the importance of addressing food insecurity during the holiday season: “Thanksgiving is a reminder to slow down, practice gratitude, and enjoy the company of loved ones. However, for many Brooklynites, the holiday can exacerbate the hardships of food insecurity.”

Don Hong from UA3 expressed his organization's commitment: “As families and friends gather this week to celebrate the great American Thanksgiving holiday, UA3 is honored to partner with The Brooklyn Borough President and the Lions Club to provide fresh produce for hundreds of Brooklyn families.”

Frankie Miranda from Hispanic Federation highlighted their role in providing meals: “We are proud to once again work with our community partners... One warm meal can make an incredible difference in the lives of New Yorkers in need.”

The event was supported by various partners including National Grid. Aubrey Kellman stated: “National Grid is proud to partner with the Brooklyn Borough President to support community stakeholders and families in need during this holiday season.”

Rebecca O’Connell from Citizens added: “Thanksgiving is all about community and we are proud to support our Brooklyn neighbors... We understand the strains that families are feeling.”

Wegmans also participated in the initiative. Their statement read: “Wegmans is very excited to continue our partnership with Borough President Antonio Reynoso on the ‘Brooklyn For All’ Thanksgiving Food Distribution.”

Phillip Grant from Hunts Point Produce Market noted their involvement: “Last Friday marked a significant milestone for Hunts Point Produce Market as we joined forces with the Brooklyn Borough President... Our collaborative effort led to the successful donation of fresh, nutritious produce.”

Vic Pascarelli from Optimum expressed gratitude for being part of this initiative: “Optimum thanks Borough President Reynoso and his office for this partnership and their focus on serving the community’s needs.”

Carlos Naudon from Ponce Bank remarked on their contribution: “Brooklyn is an integral part of the Ponce Bank family... Once again, we’re pleased to team up with Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.”

The event showcased collaboration among multiple organizations aiming to address food insecurity during Thanksgiving.
