The City University of New York (CUNY) has issued a statement in response to a resolution passed by the Professional Staff Congress (PSC). The resolution calls for divestment from Israeli companies and government bonds, and recommends similar actions for the Teachers’ Retirement System pension plan.
In its statement, CUNY emphasized its opposition to the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. "Our University has consistently denounced BDS activity and we condemn the resolution passed by Professional Staff Congress delegates," the statement read.
CUNY further clarified that the PSC-CUNY organization does not represent the university's stance or values. "The PSC-CUNY organization does not speak for the University and this vote does not reflect the University’s position or our values," CUNY stated.
The university made it clear that it will not engage in any BDS-related activities. "CUNY will not participate in any form of BDS activity," concluded their statement.
