Sy Syms School of Business unveils six new online MBA concentrations

The Sy Syms School of Business has introduced six new concentrations in its Online MBA Program. These concentrations aim to equip students with skills relevant to various business fields.

The Business Analytics concentration focuses on data-driven decision-making, covering topics such as data mining, visualization, and predictive analytics. The Marketing concentration prepares graduates for both digital and traditional marketing environments, emphasizing modern techniques and sustainable practices. The Accounting concentration addresses specialized areas like ethics and information systems to handle complex financial reporting.

In response to a growing demand for real estate professionals, the Real Estate concentration offers expertise in finance and urban development. The Entrepreneurship and Strategy concentration is designed for those interested in leadership roles or starting their own ventures, focusing on change management and negotiation. Lastly, the Finance concentration provides tools for navigating corporate challenges and identifying opportunities.

The development of these concentrations began with Real Estate Development in May 2023, followed by others in early 2024. Dr. Tamar Avnet and Dr. Linda Driver led the initiative alongside faculty members from each discipline. Michele Nicosia assisted in preparing the proposal submitted to the New York State Education Department in August 2024, which received approval the following month.

Dr. Driver commented on the significance of these additions: “The concentrations offered by the Syms School of Business Online MBA Program significantly strengthen its value by catering to diverse career paths and in-demand business skills.”
