Rep. Ritchie Torres, a U.S. Congress member representing New York's 15th district since 2021, has recently addressed several significant issues via social media. On January 27, 2025, he commemorated International Holocaust Remembrance Day by honoring the memory of six million Jews and countless others who perished during this dark period in history. He urged people to remember and educate against bigotry. "This International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the memory of the 6 million Jews and countless others whose lives were taken in history’s darkest chapter. May we take this solemn day to remember, educate, and stand united against bigotry."

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Torres commented on constitutional matters regarding presidential powers and funding allocations by Congress. He criticized former President Trump for allegedly attempting to freeze congressionally appropriated funding. According to Torres: "The Constitution is clear that President Trump cannot freeze congressionally appropriated funding. Congress, not the President, has the power of the purse." He further described such actions as attacks on checks and balances that could adversely affect American families.

A day later on January 29, 2025, Rep. Torres expressed concerns over public panic due to potential loss of federal benefits linked to actions by the Trump administration: "Countless Americans spent the last few days in a panic, fearing they'd lose crucial federal benefits and funding as a result of the Trump administration's flippant behavior." He concluded with criticism about leadership style.
