Following up on the initial post, Meng elaborated on January 28, 2025, stating, "This means missed payrolls & rent. No funding for school meal programs, housing support or health care assistance." She expressed worry that the directive contradicts efforts to reduce costs and provide basic necessities for families.

Later that day, Meng shared another concern on January 28, 2025. She tweeted, "I am deeply concerned to learn that Medicaid portals are shut down in all 50 states including New York," affecting nearly seven million adults and children in New York State who rely on Medicaid for healthcare coverage.
