Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today with Assemblymember Jen Lunsford at the Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance in Monroe County, announcing $180,000 in funding to support the non-profit’s ability to purchase and equip a new ambulance.

“Our volunteer emergency service workers provide critical care to communities across the state with incredibly limited resources,” said Speaker Heastie. “That’s why I’m honored to join Assemblymember Lunsford today to announce the funding needed to supply the Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance a new ambulance, as they continue the hard work of saving lives across Monroe County.”

“We remain in a statewide emergency service crisis with local volunteer organizations struggling to find the workforce and funding needed to continue saving lives,” said Assemblymember Lunsford. “This is particularly troubling for our rural and suburban communities who are often completely reliant on volunteer services like the Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance. This funding will provide the ambulance service the ability to care for more of our residents and we remain committed to providing them any additional support they need.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Lunsford met with Chief and CEO of Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance Jonathan Smith to announce the $180,000 in funding to purchase and equip a new ambulance. Since 1971, the Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance has provided emergency services to residents across Monroe County with the help of volunteers and compensated emergency medical technicians. This funding will allow the non-profit organization to expand care to more patients across the county.
