Speaker Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today in Buffalo, joining Assemblymember Jonathan D. Rivera to tour the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo’s John F. Beecher Clubhouse and announce $1 million for improvements to the building and the park.

“It’s great to be here at the Boys & Girls Club with Assemblymember Rivera today,” Speaker Heastie said. “They do such incredible work in our communities, giving kids a safe place to learn and grow. This funding will give the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo the resources they need to improve their clubhouse and make it an even better environment for the kids here in Buffalo.”

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo are integral parts of our community and the lives of Buffalo’s young people,” Assemblymember Rivera said. “This funding will help the John F. Beecher Clubhouse continue to provide a safe place for kids on the Lower West Side. I’m so glad Speaker Heastie was able to be here with us today and see the great things happening here at the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Rivera were joined by Boys and Girls Club of Buffalo Chief Executive Officer Shari McDonough at the John F. Beecher Clubhouse. The $1 million announced today will allow the Boys & Girls Club to make interior and exterior improvements to the clubhouse, and to expand and improve the park. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo serve nearly 2,600 young people between 5 and 18 years of age, giving disadvantaged youths a safe place to spend time, as well as access to important programs and services to prepare them for the future.
