Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R,C-Coney Island) attended a press conference earlier this week to show his support for the Fletcher Act. The Fletcher Act, named after Joseph Fletcher, permits certain claims by essential employees for compensation based on death due to COVID-19, which were previously denied or not filed on time. Brook-Krasny was joined by members of both parties as they advocated for the rights of the families of essential workers.
"We all remember the struggle and hardship we went through during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Brook-Krasny. “However, there are still families who are suffering from the loss of loved ones who were on the front lines as essential workers. This proposal will help give those families peace of mind as they continue to heal and provide them with the support they need. I will continue to fight to make sure the families of frontline workers are protected and taken care of.”
