Caucus Dedicated to Ensuring Equity, Access, Safety, and Sustainability in Transportation
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined the Future of Transportation Caucus, which was founded in 2019 by Representatives Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), and Mark Takano (CA-39). The Caucus is dedicated to creating a vision for the future of our transportation system that emphasizes equity, access, safety and sustainability.
“Transportation infrastructure is the lifeblood of the nation, and nowhere is that more true than here in New York City,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “Following the monumental passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we must ensure that we are implementing these once-in-a-generation investments in a way that prioritizes equity, access, safety, and sustainability. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Caucus to deliver on these priorities as we look to reimagine the future of transportation in this country.”
“Congressman Goldman understands that improving our transportation systems is a matter of economic and climate justice, and has been legislating accordingly. His visionary work on congestion pricing is but one example,” said Future of Transportation Caucus Co-Founder Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García. “Congressman Goldman has quickly become a leader in building a more equitable transportation future in our biggest cities and across the country. Our Caucus is lucky to have him as a member.”
The caucus hosts forums and briefings to generate awareness and policy discussions on sustainability, safety, and improved connectivity for all communities.
Since taking office, Congressman Goldman has made efforts to reimagine America’s transportation infrastructure a priority, urging the Department of Transportation to allow for the immediate implementation of congestion pricing in New York City to pave the way for vital improvements in air quality, safety, and New York’s public transit system.
In April, Congressman Goldman joined his fellow members of the New York delegation in supporting the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s grant application for the FY 2023 Low or No Emission Vehicle Program to transition the MTA’s bus fleet to zero-emissions vehicles by 2040.
In March, Goldman announced that $2 million in federal funding had been awarded to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to expand a pilot program that helps visually impaired and limited English proficiency New Yorkers navigate the subway and bus systems.
