Bronx Community College - The Medical Laboratory Technician Program

The Medical Laboratory Technician program at Bronx Community College has been awarded a grant to certify MLT students as phlebotomists while they undergo their studies at BCC. This initiative was brought to you by Mayor Adams and CUNY Centrals Dean of Health Services Dr. Patricia Boyce with the goal of certifying 30 students by May 23, 2023 to help fill vacant phlebotomy jobs around the city. The goal is to help students find gainful employment in the lab while studying to become a Medical Laboratory Technician.

The grant includes the following:
-A 2-week internship rotation at an affiliate hospital to obtain 30-live phlebotomy blood draws

-Weekly MetroCards to travel to and from your internship

-Practice supplies for the MLT Study Lab.

-A scholarship for payment of the national certification exam through NHA.

-A scholarship to purchase the exams study material online or hard copy

To be eligible for this opportunity student must have:

-Completed or will complete the MLT 81 course within this academic year (2022-2023). This includes Spring and Summer 2022 students.

-Took and passed the MLT 81 phlebotomy midterm with a score of 75% or higher.

-Maintain professionalism at all times while at the internship.
