Cost of college went up for all students at the Carsten Institute of Cosmetology

Tuition and fees rose 11.9 percent for 2018-19 at the Carsten Institute of Cosmetology, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York students paid $16,350 to attend the private for-profit school this year – $1,734 more than the $14,616 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 79 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 29 students received grants or scholarships totaling $122,141 and 23 students took out student loans totaling more than $170,201.

Including all undergraduates (115), 92 students used grants or scholarships totaling $409,979, and 82 students took out $674,849 in federal student loans.
