Cost of college went up for all students at CUNY Medgar Evers College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.9 percent for 2018-19 at CUNY Medgar Evers College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $7,152 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $200 more than the $6,952 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 107.2 percent more than residents this year, or $14,822. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 3.3 percent from $14,342 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,022 students received grants or scholarships totaling $8.6 million and 74 students took out student loans totaling more than $245,248.

Including all undergraduates (6,638), 4,714 students used grants or scholarships totaling $35.8 million, and 1,268 students took out $6.6 million in federal student loans.
