Cost of college went up for all students at CUNY Hunter College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.9 percent for 2018-19 at CUNY Hunter College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $7,182 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $200 more than the $6,982 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 106.8 percent more than residents this year, or $14,852. Their price tag grew 3.3 percent from $14,372 in 2017-18.

About 96 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. About 2 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,955 students received grants or scholarships totaling $18.5 million and 118 students took out student loans totaling more than $846,749.

Including all undergraduates (23,202), 10,681 students used grants or scholarships totaling $86.6 million, and 1,732 students took out $10.3 million in federal student loans.
