6 percent of applicants to Columbia University in the City of New York were admitted for fall 2018

At Columbia University in the City of New York, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in New York enrolled 31,077 students in fall 2018, including 8,216 in undergraduate and 22,861 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

18 percent of undergraduates are residents of New York, and 65 percent are residents of other states. 14 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (36 percent) and Asian (17 percent).

The school admitted 6 percent of the 40,572 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 62 percent enrolled.
