53 percent of applicants to CUNY York College were admitted for fall 2018

At CUNY York College, 72 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 64 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Jamaica enrolled 8,693 students in fall 2018, including 8,495 in undergraduate and 198 in graduate programs, data shows. 10.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

98 percent of undergraduates are residents of New York. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (38 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (26 percent).

The school admitted 53 percent of the 14,176 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 16 percent enrolled.
